Rameson Group is a family-backed entrepreneurial holding company focused on acquiring and growing durable small businesses. We were built on a simple belief: the best long-term owner of a good business is someone who understands what it takes to build one.

Our origin

Rameson Group was founded by Erik Rameson and Allwyn Thornton after careers spent building, operating, and acquiring businesses. The firm exists because of a gap that was hard to ignore: founders selling well-run companies often faced a narrow set of options — a strategic buyer focused on integration, or a financial buyer operating within a standardized playbook and a defined timeline.

Too often, neither approach is centered on the long-term health of the business. So we built a third option: a family-backed long-term home for good businesses.

What we believe

We believe great businesses are built through patience, steady improvement, and good judgment — not financial engineering. We believe sellers deserve clarity around what happens to their teams, customers, and legacy after a transaction closes. We believe that passing on the wrong deal is a feature, not a failure. And we believe the best outcomes come from owning the right businesses for a long time, not the wrong businesses for a short one.

How we work

We move quickly when we have conviction and we walk away cleanly when we don't. Our diligence is thorough but practical. Our offers are direct. Our documentation is straightforward. After close, we are exactly as involved as the company needs us to be — sometimes that means a board seat and a quarterly cadence; sometimes that means rolling up our sleeves on a CFO search or a pricing project. We use data and reporting where they help, but we do not confuse measurement with judgment.

Over the course of his career, he has founded, acquired, invested in, and helped build businesses across a range of industries, giving him a broad perspective on how companies create value, scale, and endure over time.

His background combines capital formation, strategic oversight, sales-driven growth, operational problem-solving, and hands-on business building. This mix of investor discipline and operator experience shapes the way Rameson Group evaluates opportunities, works with businesses, and approaches long-term value creation.

Allwyn Thornton is an entrepreneur, investor, and operator who brings a thoughtful, relationship-driven perspective to Rameson Group, with a strong focus on business development, branding, and evaluating new opportunities through the lens of customer relevance and long-term value creation. She works closely with the firm on shaping new initiatives, refining market positioning, and helping identify businesses and concepts with durable demand, strong differentiation, and meaningful growth potential.
